Further information
This adventure is aimed at paddlers who have done some flat water kayaking and want to get their first taste of moving water or more adventurous novices. Much of it is flat and flowing, but there some small rapids and river features which we will learn how to work our way down. We can use double kayaks for more stability if you are new, or single kayaks if you are looking to progress from flatwater.
Leaving just past the bigger rapid at Dunkeld, we will wind our way down, navigating shingle banks and river features, taking in the scenic and tree-lined river as we go. It's not long before thoughts of civilization are long gone. We'll find somewhere to stop for lunch and a stretch and finish with a small paddle up the River Isla to the bridge. We'll look out for beaver, otter, and kingfisher on the river, and deer grazing on the river bank. Osprey is common on this stretch during the summer months.
Our full-day guided tours are 5-6 hours long. All paddling equipment will be provided. There is a selection of single and double kayaks to choose from depending on experience and weather conditions. The trip is suitable for those 12 years and older. All that you need to bring is some warm clothes for the weather, including shoes you don’t mind getting wet. For younger explorers, we offer tours at alternative locations. Please get in touch for further details.
We will be in touch a few days before the trip with more detailed information, including the meeting point, chosen to suit us best for the weather conditions at the time.
